DO NOT TRUST THE OLD REVIEWS because owners have changed! I returned to Ann Arbor after 8 years and Kangs was the first place I went to check out after arriving because it was my topmost fav restaurant to visit back in undergraduate and holds a special place in my heart. Unfortunately, not only the owner has changed (based on Reddit research), the menu is DRASTICALLY different, there was only one person working (a one man show that was getting grumpy at customers which I can’t imagine being in his position), the food was one of the WORST Korean food (from being the best) I have ever had in my life. The galbitang is brownish in color (first red flag) and was so salty like someone accidentally drop a bucket of salt and peppery (too much soy sauce I’m speculating and one can see from the photo), the meat was of no good quality, the rice was not fully cooked, no banchan, and the tofus in my friends vegan bibimbap were mildly sour and THEY WERE NOT CHEAP ($18+ for galbitang when rich JC, the next door Korean restaurant that was not open had galbitang for $14 and wish they were open and wouldn’t have been this disapponted). Like many people said in the recent days, RIP old Kang’s. The food in changed menu have totally different taste compared to past, and I would say today’s food is totally BAD with no hesitation. Second pic is beef bibimbap in the past, same name, different thing. Definitely will never come back.

Nice little Korean restaurant in the heart of Ann Arbor Ordered bibimbap as I eat veggie. Loved the sauce , the ingredients , and the quantity. Made me want to try and make the dish myself! It’s nice atmosphere from the inside. The staff is family run, they made me feel at home. Will definitely come again

I love Kang’s !!! The food is so comforting, and the staff is so loving, welcoming, and kind. There’s a safe feeling of family while you’re here, and you feel almost like you’re in a family kitchen! This place is open until 2AM so students should definitely come here for a nice hot meal, some comfort during a busy week, and maybe a little treat with some pastries !!!! Make sure to say hello to the staff and enjoy the flavors!!!

Walked by Kang’s to check when it’s reopening and Dan invited us to come in and test out some of their new dishes. They’re rebranding their menu to be cheaper and include a wider variety of Asian food. Tried the pork buns, xiao long bao, and pho, and all 3 were REALLY REALLY good. Definitely recommend checking out when they reopen!
